THEY MUST HAZ GF OR BF by Its-An-Inferno THEY MUST HAZ GF OR BF by Its-An-Inferno
Why oh why do people think that every character in the fiction world must have some sort of relationship? This is a crime mainly committed in fan-fiction of course, where every character has to either be paired with someone else from the series or the writer's shitty OC. I'll admit I've been guilty of this in the past but I quickly got over it. I mean really now, not all characters are even relatively interested in having a boyfriend/girlfriend or any of that and it can be quite obvious. I actually like having single characters because then I can focus on other parts of that character aside of their feelings for other people and shit (and trust me, I'm a sucker for writing love stories). My funnest characters are the ones who usually aren't preoccupied with all that love crap. So please, stop butchering movies/books/shows even further in fan fiction by throwing them into an unnecessary relationship.

Fav, flame, comment, and use.

Even though I am a hopeless romantic, I wholeheartedly support this.

Just about every YA dystopian book I've read with a female lead has an obligatory heterosexual romance, and just about every time I see one it's just. So. Forced. Half the time it isn't even relevant to the plot. It's just... there. I'm tired of seeing these half-assed straight relationships that don't contribute anything to the actual story. Like, why can't some of these girls just be single? No offense but I think that stopping a mutant killer virus or a fascist government takes priority over some generic, mediocre boy you literally just met.

Sooo true! I actually took a while before I realised that none of my OCs have love interests and I'm damn proud of that(because I'm not a romantic, eugh)! Despite being a mixed nationality, non-blood related pack, they're no more than brothers and sisters to each other!

This stamp is very useful ^^
Not only for OCs - also for all the Characters from movies/tv series, books, comics, animes/mangas...

I agree with you and i fully support your thoughts behind this stamp

Agreed. I love a good romance story from time to time, but I can also accept that some characters are single/don't have any interest in dating. (I kinda hate it when people ship characters that don't show romantic interest in canon... If they're not interested in canon, then they’re not going to suddenly fall all over whatever character your fan fiction pairs them with.

it actually makes me mad sometimes when this happens
unless that paring has a reason or is cute

Too true, for every single show, game, movie, or even book, there are characters who I believe should stay single, there's nothing wrong with that.

Also, if you're gonna have a love story, at least give the characters chemistry or borrow a page from Hayao Miyazaki where the male and female leads have chemistry, but it's not a romantic chemistry. The closest we got were between Ashitaka and San and Chihiro and Haku but they weren't flat-out romantic.

Tell me about it. Levi Ackerman is probably that kind of character who can't have a love interest, cuz his life is dangerous as heck. We all remember what happened to Petra. ;n;

Lol I'm not one for hating people who do this... I don't hate like extremely or anything. But people always try to give merida or Elsa love interests... Merida is independent and Elsa... well she only needs her sister at the moment.

Whenever I see a Next Gen MLP related thing, often I see that ALL of the Mane 6 are moms/married. WHY!? Not all of them need children or a guy to be with, you know!

I'm sorry, but it's just something that bothers me a little.

I agree with this 100% not every character needs a relationship
It's sometimes quite irritating
To me anyway because I'm not a big fan of romance and stuff like that :)

I know some mixels fans who make OCs FOR TO SOLE PURPOSE for shipping it with other OCs. Almost 90% of their gallery are shippings, and when one of them did a christmas countdown, ALLL OF THEM were Christmas-themed shippings!!!!

and they even make journals saying "Who should be the lover of my OC?" and whenever I say "WHY CANT THEY BE SINGLE!?" they hide the comment

I know right? YA fiction these days sucks. It's hard to find a good old-school fantasy or sci-fi novel nowadays, because they all contain love triangles.

It's because people are taught to think that everyone must have a partner in their life and it's really REALLY sad, it's so sad to the point where they are forcing it upon people or bullly them for not wanting that. As an ace aro I can say that it's really nerve wrecking
So they become obsessed with it and love to watch other people be in relationships as well, both romantic and sexual reasons, and they are taking it out on fictional characters
NG480 Featured By Owner Edited May 26, 2015
Amatonormavity is the reason stuff like this happens; both in fiction and in real life.  I'm glad that asexuality, aromanticism, and queerplatonic relationships are a thing and are gaining more visibility because there needs to be diverse relationships of any kind and not just the traditional 'boy meets girl' trope that happens so often in media.

I'm a pretty much a huge huge fan of "opposites attract," though I don't think I recall using that excuse. No, I don't think I ever did. And I don't think I ever will.
OceanRailroader Featured By Owner Mar 20, 2015
I do have characters in my story lines that never have a love interest and they don't really care. But some of them are however helpful and nice to other people but they don't view this as romance.

Fanfiction in general is an ABOMINATION to whatever the source is from.

No respect for the original creator. No respect at all.
